Here is where I will be living for the next two years!

downtown Salt Lake City, Utah!

I wonder if I’ll get to hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir!
Check out this cool comparison:
Salt Lake City in 1869…

…and in modern times:

a flattering picture of the Great Salt Lake:

a more realistic picture (note the darker water and the muddy feet):

I will be working as an advocate for social justice needs in downtown SLC. I will also work with legislators! I still need to learn more about the details of my job, but I’ll have a private apartment and some Mormon temples to explore!
This is exciting!
My parents are excited, too, because flying from SLC to Alaska is a piece of cake compared to if I was on the East coast. I had envisioned serving in Florida or the Carolinas with this missionary job…maybe taking day trips to the beach to read and swim…but perhaps I can substitute the Salt Lake beach for my Gulf of Mexico. I am still happy
We finally know where you will be. How exciting for you! I do wish the cost of flights were lower since you are closer to Alaska but it doesn’t appear to be that way as far as I can tell. At least the flight won’t be as long.
It does look like a good placement and I really like the legislative piece that goes with it. You’ll get a good education there, too. The two years will go by quickly so enjoy them while you can. I look forward to hearing more about it as it unfolds for you.
That’s exciting Sarah! I’ve never been to Utah before. That gives all of us an excuse to come and visit. Maybe during the winter so we could go a ski trip!
Glad to hear of the progress in your plans. I’m not exactly sure what an “advocate for social justice needs ” does, but I’m sure you’ll do a great job. I agree with your Mom on the legislative bit. I find that intriguing as well. We’ll continue to keep you in our prayers.
Yea! I’m glad you found out where you will be working. I hope you like it there! I agree with Bridget
I like the sounds of this a lot. I am really proud of you. As always!!
Wow Sarah! That’s really exciting! What exactly is an advocate for social justice… do you know what specifically you will be advocating for? I have always wanted to go to Salt Lake City (in fact, I read the Salt Lake Tribune online almost every day, but its mostly because they have really good coverage of the FLDS stuff going on down in Texas).
Also, I’m intruiged by these little colorful boxes by everyone’s comment.
That’s not mud, those are leeches.
I love you!
You know Sarah, you are right! Your future is so very bright! We all knew that God was going to open up some wonderful doors for you and this is just the beginning! Just do me a favor, try to limit your time in that muddy water!
Whoa Utah! Craziness! You know, I bet you can find some really sweet state parks out there!
